Jerry Seinfeld's "I Don't Care About Palestine" Comment Sparks Social Media Outrage
Jerry Seinfeld faces backlash after telling an activist, “I don’t care about Palestine,” during a public interaction. Social media reactions range from disappointment to outrage over his comment.
Comedian and actor Jerry Seinfeld has become the center of controversy after making a blunt remark about Palestine. The incident occurred when activist and influencer Subway DJ approached Seinfeld outside Radio City Music Hall, where Saturday Night Live was hosting a 50th-anniversary celebration. Initially, the influencer asked for a photograph, which Seinfeld readily agreed to. However, the situation took a turn when Subway DJ used the opportunity to discuss the Gaza conflict.
Instead of taking a traditional photo, Subway DJ recorded a video and raised a peace sign while stating, “Free Palestine.” Seinfeld, appearing visibly uncomfortable, remained silent but shook his head when asked to repeat the phrase. His response: “I don’t care about Palestine,” before he walked away from the activist.
The viral video quickly garnered attention on social media, sparking a heated debate. Many users criticized Seinfeld for his perceived insensitivity, with some calling him out for being dismissive of the situation. “We don’t care about Seinfeld or anyone who supports genocide,” one commenter wrote. Another added, “The guy gives you a selfie, and you pull some dumb move like that. Come on, man.”
Others expressed their disappointment, especially fans of Seinfeld who felt let down by his response. “As someone who loved Seinfeld, this is super disappointing,” one user shared.
Jerry Seinfeld’s Support for Israel
Seinfeld, who is Jewish, has been a vocal supporter of Israel, particularly during its ongoing conflict with Hamas. In December 2023, he visited Israel and met with the families of hostages. “We believe in justice, freedom, and equality. We survive and flourish no matter what. I will always stand with Israel and the Jewish people,” Seinfeld stated at the time.
The comedian’s support for Israel has previously caused controversy, such as during his 2023 appearance as a guest speaker at Duke University’s commencement. The event saw dozens of students walk out in protest, waving Palestinian flags and chanting “Free Palestine” in response to his invitation.
Seinfeld’s recent comment has further intensified the conversation around his stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict, drawing divided reactions from the public.
