A Crazy Scene in Bulandshahr

On the morning of July 5, 2025, something unbelievable happened in Dungra Jat, a small village in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahr district. A group of kids, aged 10 to 15, found a giant 15-foot Indian rock python while playing near a riverbank. Instead of telling adults or calling for help, they decided to pick up the huge snake with their hands and carry it through the streets of nearby Shekhpur Raura village. For almost 3 kilometers, along the Bulandshahr-Anupshahr road, they held the snake by its head, middle, and tail, showing it off like a prize. Villagers gathered around, taking photos and videos, and some even clicked selfies with the snake. These videos went viral on social media the next day, leaving people shocked, amused, and worried.

The Indian rock python is a protected animal under India’s Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, which means it’s illegal to catch or harm it. No one got hurt, and the kids let the snake go into a nearby forest in the end. But the incident has upset wildlife experts, who say it was dangerous and wrong. The local police and forest department didn’t know about it until the videos spread online, and now people are asking why no one stopped the kids.

A Dangerous Stunt Goes Viral

The viral videos show about a dozen kids carrying the massive python like it was a game. Some held its head, others its body, while a few took selfies and made reels. Villagers didn’t stop them—instead, they joined in, cheering and filming. “It felt like a mela (fair),” said Rinku Singh, the head of Shekhpur Raura village. “Nobody thought to call the police or forest officials.”

The Indian rock python is a non-venomous snake, but it’s very strong. It can grow up to 20 feet long and weigh as much as 90 kilograms. It kills its prey by wrapping around it tightly, which makes it risky to handle, especially for kids. If it had felt scared or attacked, it could have hurt someone badly. Wildlife experts are upset because the kids and villagers didn’t seem to know how dangerous this was or that the python is a protected species.

Why This Matters

This incident shows a big problem: many people in rural areas don’t know enough about wildlife laws or how to stay safe around wild animals. The Indian rock python is important to nature—it helps control pests like rats and other small animals. But it’s also endangered, and laws are in place to protect it. Catching or parading a python like this is against the law, and it could have ended badly for both the snake and the people.

The fact that no one called the forest department or police during the 3-kilometer parade has worried experts. “This shows we need to teach people, especially in villages, about wildlife,” said Anil Sharma, a wildlife activist in Uttar Pradesh. He suggests schools and local leaders should hold awareness programs to explain why animals like pythons need to be left alone and how to call for help if one is spotted.

What’s Being Done Now

After the videos went viral, the forest department in Bulandshahr started looking into the incident. They’re trying to find out who the kids were and why no one reported it at the time. They also want to make sure the python is safe in the forest where it was released. The department is planning to visit villages in the area to talk about wildlife safety and the laws protecting animals like the python.

Some people on social media found the videos funny, with comments like “UP kids are fearless!” But others were angry, saying the kids put themselves and the snake in danger. “This isn’t a joke,” wrote one user on X. “That snake could’ve been hurt, or someone could’ve died.”

A Lesson for the Future

The Bulandshahr python parade is a wake-up call. It shows how important it is to teach kids and adults about respecting wildlife. In villages near forests or rivers, where animals like pythons are sometimes spotted, people need to know what to do. Instead of touching or catching a wild animal, they should call the forest department or police for help.

On July 10, 2025, as this story spreads, it’s a reminder to all of us to care for nature and stay safe. The kids in Dungra Jat may have thought they were having fun, but their actions could have turned dangerous. Let’s hope this incident leads to more awareness and better protection for India’s wildlife—and keeps both people and animals safe in the future.
